Dehydration ( Part 1 )

If you’re thirsty, common sense tells you to get a drink. But did you know that dehydration has already begun to set in by the time your brain sends the signal that you need a drink. That’s why it’s important to get your fill of clear liquids (preferably water) prior to physical activity. It’s also critical to overall good health to drink water regularly throughout the day, even when it’s not hot outside. Causes of dehydration go beyond hot-weather activity. Make drinking water a part of your daily routine can decrease your risk for dehydration – a serious condition that can turn deadly. Adults lose more than 10 cups of water in a given day, just by taking part in everyday activities, according to MayoClinic.com. Fail to replace that water, and your health is at stake.

What Does Water Do?
Aside from the hydration necessary for our bodies to sustain life, water also provides a vehicle for other nutrients called electrolytes. Electrolytes include minerals such as sodium, potassium and calcium. Water helps disseminate these minerals throughout the body and into blood, tissue and organs. It is necessary for lubricating joints. It is a huge part of blood and digestive liquids, and helps transport nutrients, and get rid of waste. Your body is made up of 70 percent water, and needs about a dozen 8-ounce glasses of water a day to keep up.
Lemonade is also a good source of liquids to help you from dehydrating. it also helps to flush the kidneys to avoid Kidney stones.

About Dehydration
Sickness, diarrhea and vomiting can all contribute to dehydration. Diarrhea can be particularly dangerous, resulting in a rapid loss of water and electrolytes. A fever will also deplete the body of necessary fluids. As the body heats up, it uses its own water supply to cool down, resulting in the loss of water. Illness is a common precursor to dehydration.

15 year old 2010 Southwest Regional Baseball

It's been a heat blistering weekend in Madisonville, Louisiana where the Southwest Regionals were being held. We had some great Baseball over the past weekend including the following teams.

Host team- Madisonville

North Arkansas Representive  Fort Smith Church League from Fort Smith Arkansas

South Arkansas Representive White Hall Arkansas

Louisiana Representive          Loranger, Louisiana

Mississippi Representive         Orange Grove, Mississippi

 Oklahoma Representive        South East Oklahoma

West Texas Representive       North Plains

South Texas Representive      Tri County Chapter  Hallettesville, Texas

East Texas Representive         Wharton, Texas

Starting July 30, 2010 through August 3, 2010 these teams played in a double elimination tournament and provided some great baseball games for the fans that came out and watched during triple digit heat record breaking days.

We witnessed some very close games and also some blowouts but lots of fun was had by all that were in the Coquille Sports Complex.

Several vendors came in just to be a part of this great weekend and were able to meet these young men that played a sport that they love playing.

First Aid Lemonaid was rescueing the thirst of the fans with fresh squeezed lemonaid in Regular & sugar free lemonade.

Big Easy Roasted corn was providing sweet mouth watering roasted corn topped with your favorite toppings. Toppings included Ranch Dressing, Parmesian Cheese, Garlic Salt, Lemon Salt, Cayenne Pepper, Tony Chachere's, Seasonal and regular salt or pepper.

Italian Pie was serving caesar salads, pizza, & Hot wings.

Muffalettas and More was there with gumbo, jambalaya & muffalettas

VooDoo BBQ & grill was serving up some pulled pork and brisket sandwiches

Chick-fil-a was serving up some chicken sandwiches and chicken nuggets

We also had the opportunity to meet Foxy's Screen printing making up tee shirts with screen prints

Sportraits was taking several pictures of the players and providing an assortment of packages to capture the moment of the young men trying to make that winning play for a keepsake that will last forever.

We enjoyed this week of Baseball and hope to have more opportunities to participate in more weekends like this and see lots of great Baseball or Softball tournaments and watching dreams come true for the young men and women that enjoy playing these games.

First Aid Lemonaid enjoys these young people and want to watch them grow and become big players for a University and even pro's if that is what they desire.

Well July is coming to an end and we have so much baseball left. Today through Tueday July July 27, we are working in Zachary with the 9 year olds in Cal Ripkin All Stars Regional finals. This marks the end of their season and we wish all teams that participated in all the Tournaments great sucess next year and hope they return. We met teams from Bryant Arkansas, Little Rock, South Arkansas, Orange Grove Mississippi, New Orleans, Zachary, Donaldsonville, George County, Mississippi, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Abbyville and Livonia.

Melvin & Kelvin Abbott, have enjoyed this month and will finish the month in Madisonville for the 15 year old Babe Ruth Tournament. We hope to meet many more teams coming to Louisiana and buying some Delicious Louisiana Fresh Squeezed Lemonaid.

August begins with some co-ed tournaments and on into High School Football. We are proud to return to Woodlawn High School for the Home games this year as well as the Brusly Panthers. We hope to see you at one of these schools as they prepare to play some football and win district and advance to play offs to head to state champs.

Always remember   When you're dying of thirst... Think First Aid Lemonaid.

During august, remember to drink plenty of fluids as the heat will drain the fluids from you. We suggest Water or Lemonaid to rescue your thirst.
