First Aid Lemonaid began in 2002 in an attempt to raise $5,000 for the American Stroke Association.  Mr. Al Richard with Tiger Concessions gave us an opportunity to work the Lemonade stands at the upcoming LSU games to raise money to meet the fundraising goal.  The owner of the lemonade stands decided that he was ready to sell the stands at LSU, and after working for him, I decided that this would be a fun and easy business to operate.  I also saw the opportunity for expansion.

First Aid Lemonaid continues to grow with six stands including an 8x10 trailer.  We currently serve our fresh-squeezed lemonade at softball tournaments, company picnics, craft shows, fairs, parades and various festivals in Louisiana and neighboring states.  We want to secure more business on a national level.

Our mission is to provide customers with a refreshing drink served with a smile and superb service allowing us to build lasting friendships with everyone we serve.

We value our community and we are committed to the following charities:

American Stroke Association

Children's Miracle Network

Muscular Dystrophy Association

Louisiana Military Families

BIO FOR  KELVIN ABBOTT

Kelvin Abbott was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and has resided in Prairieville, Louisiana since 1997 with his wife Evie.  Kelvin, father of two, graduated from Central High School in 1978 and he is currently employed at the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank where he has the opportunity to do what he loves, meet people and assist the community.

Kelvin says one of his immediate goals is to work with young men and women and be involved with structuring their growth which influences the way they work with others.  He is no stranger to helping the community as he is a member of the West Side Moose Lodge in Brusly, Louisiana and in his spare time he works as a volunteer with LSU by cleaning neighborhoods, painting houses and keeping LSU clean.  When he is not giving back to the community, he spends his time watching sporting events, fishing and relaxing.

Kelvin says his strongest characteristic is the ability to meet people and become friends.  His proudest moment is helping non-profit groups such as the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, MDA, Children's Miracle Network, the American Stroke Association and the Louisiana Military families.

"It's a pleasure to work with my twin brother and work at the many events we schedule.  We talk to each other at least three times a day and work together, but we still have separate lives.  I enjoy the work that I do on a full-time basis in my quest to help end hunger in our local community.  I'm grateful for the love and support from my wife and children.  I'm also grateful to the many people I've become friends with over the years," says Kelvin.

Melvin is active in the community and is a member of the Brusly Lions Club and the WestSide Moose Lodge.  He volunteers with the American Stroke Association to raise awareness about the warning signs of Stroke.  "I'm an advocate for the American Stroke Association primarily because my involvement possibly saved my twin brother's life when he suffered a stroke in May 2008," says Melvin.  In addition, he volunteers with MDA during the annual telethon.  In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Melvin's run for a political office in West Baton Rouge Parish increased his visibility among the voters and as a result, he plans to run for office again.  He says his strongest characteristic is his ability to work with others and plan events.

Crossing the finish line in Kona Hawaii during the 26.2 mile marathon was Melvin's proudest moment.  He says, "My goal is to continue to serve my neighbors and friends and represent them in a positive way.  I would like to eventually marry and have my own family.
